Hi guys! Thanks for commenting. I've edited the post to clarify where I got his age. There were actually four (!!!) versions of his birth date, but the most believable is either of two 1949 dates.

Note that most of these are from “trusted” mainstream media, i.e. Liputan 6 / SCTV reports 6 May 1949. Detik (my original source) reports 1963. While most other media, including Mbah Surip's Wikipedia page, reports 5 May 1949.
